How to pray for Bibleless people
Pray for the Lord to create a hunger and
thirst for Himself in those who have not yet heard.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)
Pray for workers to be called and sent to each group.
“Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:38)
Pray that workers will be able to discern and carry out the plans the Lord has for reaching each Bibleless people group.
“And they sang a new song: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.’” (Revelation 5:9)
Pray for people groups who are hearing the Gospel for the first time and for those who are sharing the Gospel with them. Pray God will remove any suspicions and doubts; pray that He will provide friends who will help workers keep good relationships among the people for day-to-day life in the culture and environment.
“You did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God.” (Galatians. 4:14)
Pray for ongoing relationships and communication of the Message. Pray for protection from false rumors and misunderstandings. Pray for involvement of the community so that the translation program belongs to the whole group.
“Entirely on their own, they pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service.” (2 Corinthians 8:3, 4)
Pray for unity among churches, missions organizations and individual believers working to share the Gospel and the Scriptures with the Bibleless group. Pray for fruit produced by the Holy Spirit. Pray that God will break down any barriers among churches, missions, and
believers so that there can be unity through Christ’s work on the cross.
“Some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The important thing is that Christ is preached.” (Philippians. 1:15, 18)
Pray for workers to persevere until the Bibleless community is transformed by the Word of God.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
