Some Tips On How To Pray For A “Work In Progress” Language Group

Pray For The Translators

  • that the people will welcome them
  • that no one will harm them
  • that they will not let anyone or anything distract them from doing God’s will
  • that they will have God’s wisdom in how to relate to the people
  • that will set a good example by their attitudes
  • that they will have adequate housing
  • that they will be diligent in learning the language and meeting the people
  • that they will make is a priority to fellowship with the Lord each day
  • that they will demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in their relationships
  • that God will lead them to His choice of people for translation work
  • that they will know how to show God’s love in spite of cultural differences

Pray For The People ­

  • that they will be patient and helpful in teaching and helping the translators
  • that they will not have false ideas or unreal expectations of the translators
  • that they will take pride in their language and help the translators learn it
  • that they will be seekers after truth and the true God, open to the Gospel
  • that they will be preparing their future pastors, evangelists, and teachers
  • that they will be protected from outsiders who would exploit them
  • that no one will foment resentment, shame or hatred among or against them
  • that education will be esteemed and those who get it will help their people
  • that they will seek God’s help and wisdom in opposing evil within and without
  • that their churches will model the good and beautiful aspects of their culture
  • that they will have adequate food, healthy bodies, and be spiritually strong
  • that they will become “people of the Book,” true followers of Christ

Pray For Yourselves ­

  • that God will keep you faithful in prayer for the translators and the people
  • that you will grow in your appreciation for God’s Word in your own language
  • that you will be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in your own life
  • that you may persevere in prayer until God’s Word is available to the people
  • that you will be encouraged and strengthened in your own faith as you pray

Pray For The Bibleless Peoples Prayer Project Staff ­

  • that God will help each one of us do his or her part to His glory
  • that God will provide long-term volunteers able to handle certain tasks well
  • that God will help us help you to keep your praying up to date and on target
  • that God will help us challenge more to pray for those still without His Word
  • that God would be glorified as we share answers to prayer with you and others
  • that we may not grow weary in well doing until all for whom He died have heard
